Trolls

Bea, Lorenzo e Silvia, concentratissimi

Oggi, approfittando della rassenga cinematografica per bimbi, “Cartoni, che avventura“, ci siamo gustati Trolls, un bel cartone animato che racconta la storia dei Trolls, e della loro principessa Poppy, piccole creature positive e sempre felici, che devono però sfuggire ai terribili Bergen, tristi figuri che trovano la felicità solo nel mangiare i trolls. A Lorenzo è piaciuto molto, e pure Bea ha retto quasi fino alla fine. Quasi….

Today we went to movie theater to watch Trolls a nice cartoon we missed when it came out, last year. It has been presented within an interesting exposition proposed by “Comune di Pavia”, with good movies proposed at a very popuilar price, with also an introduction to the movie itself by an expert. So Lorenzo was very happy, and Bea too, at least for the first hour….

Lorenzo e Anna con le bolle di sapone

Era previsto un weekend di pioggia, e invece, a parte sabato mattina, il meteo è stato clemente, anzi. Cosi’ oggi pomeriggio abbiamo deciso di trascorrere qualche ora all’aperto, a respirare le prime sensazioni di primavera. Siamo così andati al Parco della Darsena, un piccolo parco verde nel cuore della città, bello e tranquillo al tempo stesso. Qui abbiamo incontrato Anna e Marta, e per Lorenzo e Bea è stata festa grande. Poi ci sono state le bolle di sapone, lo scivolo e le altalene, e un po’ di merenda assieme. Niente di speciale, forse, ma tutto gioiosamente vissuto nella serenità di una domenica tra amici.

Weather forecast were not so good for the weekend, but at the end, with the exception of Saturday morning, we were lucky enough. This afternoon sprimg sensation was in the air, and we decided to spend few hours outside, at the “Parco della Darsena”. Here we met Anna and Marta, and this made Lorenzo and Bea very happy. They had a lot of fun together, and this made all of us very happy.

Lorenzo in piscina con tutti gli invitati

Giorgio, uno dei compagni di nuoto di Lorenzo, ha deciso quesst’anno di festeggiare il suo (sesto) compleanno in piscina, alla Folperti. Per noi era la prima festa in piscina, e dobbiamo ammettere che e’ stata proprio ben organizzata. Lorenzo si e’ scatenato sia in acqua che nella successiva fase di merenda e apertura regali. E tutti i bimbi hanno trasmesso una sensazione di gioia ed allegria che e’ stata davvero piacevole. Un grazie a super mamma Simona per l’organizzazione!!!

Today Giorgio, a Lorenzo’s swim mate, celebrated his 6th birthday at the swimming pool. It was our first party at the swimming pool, and Lorenzo enjoyed it a lot. There was a lot of fun, both during the water session, and also during the snack phase, with a great cake, and the gifts opening. Thanks Simona for the great organization.

I magnifici 5

Antonio è un collega e caro amico della sede spagnola di Marvell. E’ il responsabile IT, e con lui, con Roberto (il responsable IT della sede pavese), Dana (la nostra mitica Facility Manager) e Piero (il cuore di Marvell Italia, almeno fino a quando è rimasto con noi) è capitato di lavorare spesso insieme, magari in casi di emergenza. E tutto sommato ce la siamo cavata sempre piuttosto bene. Ora le cose in azienda stanno cambiando velocemente: la sede spagnola di Marvell e’ stata ceduta a MaxLinear, Piero se ne e’ andato da qualche anno, e a breve Marvell Italia chiudera’. Pero’ ieri, approfittando del passaggio di Antonio da Pavia, siamo riusciti a riformare il team (mancavano solo il buon Giuseppe, ormai tornato in Sicilia, e Sergio, che pure ha lasciato Marvell), almeno per un selfie, e per una cena comunque in allegria.

Yesterday we met Antonio (from Marvell Spain), Piero, Dana and Roberto, almost the great team (only Giuseppe and Sergio were missing) that during these years at Marvell sometimes worked in emergency situations to fix IT or facility issues. Now evverything is changing, Marvell Italy will close and Marvell Spain has been sold, but at least for an evening, we had fun together, like in the past.

Con Anna, sepolti da stelle filanti

Pur se non al completo (Bea con gastroenterite e papà Enrico sempre bloccato dalla schiena) il 50% dei sacchibelli ha partecipato alla parata di Carnevale per le strade della città. E per Lorenzo è stata festa grande, avendo incontrato tanti amici e amiche. Nella foto, sommersi da chili di stelle filanti, con Anna. E poi esordio stagionale al parco giochi del Castello, con prima discesa sui tanto amati gonfiabili.

Although both dad Enrico (back pain) and Bea (stomac flu) were not available, Silvia and Lorenzo joined the Carnival through the street of the town. And for Lorenzo in particular it was a great afternoon; in fact he met a lot of dear friends and school mates, and also started the season at the “Inflatables” at “Parco giochi del Castello”.

Fabio, Ivan, Silvia, Nicola e Alberto

Succede che la componente maschile adulta di casa sacchibelli comincia a perdere qualche colpo. Dopo i primi giorni di malattia per influenza dopo tanti anni, arrivano ora 10 giorno di riposo causa mal di schiena (con sospetta ernia). Così oggi, a pranzo, ha ricevuto la gradita visita di alcuni suoi colleghi, che sono corsi al suo capezzale… In realtà la situazione è sotto controllo, ma la pausa pranzo con Silvia e gli amici colleghi è stata senza dubbio piacevolissima. Grazie!!! E grazie per l’ottimo gelato…

It happens that the old male components of sacchibelli’s family is getting older… and now, with his back pain problem, is forced to stay at home for few days. So today, with Silvia, four dear colleagues (and friends) decided to join me for lunch here at home. And it has been a really nice launch. Thanks for coming. And thanks for your friendship (and also for the great ice cream).

Il compleanno di Viola

I bimbi festeggiano Viola

Viola è compagna di asilo di Lorenzo da sempre. Con anche Martina, hanno condiviso i primi tre anni di Rodari e i per ora due anni di Aquilone. E oggi, in occasione della festa del suo quinto compleanno, ci siamo ritrovati tutti, con genitori e sorelline. A rendere ancora piu’ piacevole la compagnia la mitica Giulietta, compagna di Aquilone, con Lorenzo grande e papà Giuseppe con mamma Carmen. Insomma, un bel pomeriggio di festa e di allegria. Tanti auguri Viola!!! E grazie a papà Carlo e mamma Cristina per l’organizzazione.

Viola, together with Martina, is one of the old friend of Lorenzo. They shared three lovely years at “Rodari”, and two years at “Aquilone”. And Lorenzo was very happy to partecipate to Viola’s fifth birthday celebration, with Martina, and Giulia, and all the brothers and systers. We also enjoyed such a lovely afternoon, with the babies very happy, and the parents relaxed enough to talk each other enjoying the happyness of the babies. Happy birthday Viola, and thanks to Carlo and Cristina for the organization.

Teo con Lorenzo, Bea, Silvia e la torta

L’anno scorso, per i suoi 45 anni, il nostro amico Teo aveva organizzato una grande festa (vedi qui). Quest’anno il numero è meno roboante, ma è stato comunque un piacere avere il Teo qui da noi per un pomeriggio, il giorno prima del compleanno. Ne abbiamo approfittato per preparare una torta per lui, con una simbolica candelina che Lorenzo e Beatrice si sono divertiti a spegnere soffiando. Tanti auguri mitico Teo!!!!

Last year, because of his 45th birthday, Teo organized a big celebration (see here). But this year we were happy to have him at our place the day before his 46 birthday: so we prepared a cake for him, and Lorenzo and Bea enjoyed to blow out the symbolic candle. Happy birthday Teo!!!!

Lineage OS 14.1 on Moto G 3rd gen (osprey)

Here Android 7.1.1 running on my Moto G 3rd gen

Although Android 6.01 running on Moto G (3rd generation) is clean enough, the adult male component of sacchibelli’s family decided to hack his mobile phone to enjoy the new features of Android 7 (aka Nougat), in its stock version, without any addition or customization provided by Motorola or anyone else. This is now possible thanks to the team of Lineage OS, the former CyanogenMod custom rom providing the original flavor of Android OS. Here I listed the procedure I followed: it is a bit tricky and a bit risky too. A PC (in this case running Windows, but this is not mandatory) and a Moto G (3rd generation, 2015) updated to 6.01 is the needed hardware.

  • To install adb and fastboot driver on (Windows, in this case) PC
  • adb and fastboot are command line tools that allows to communicate with the mobile phone connected to the PC through USB
  • Download the .exe from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
  • Install it on the Windows PC you are using to install Lineage OS on the smart phone
  • To unlock the bootloader of the phone (aka, to root the phone)
  • This is the step that makes your warranty void. A more detailed description can be found here
  • Download the most updated USB drivers for Moto G 3rd gen from here, and install them on your PC
  • On your Moto G, go to settings → About phone → build nuber
  • Enable Developer options on your Moto G tapping build number 7 times until it says \u2018You are now a developer\u2019
  • Enable USB debugging on your Moto G, going to Settings → Developer options → USB debugging
  • Connect now the Moto G to your PC through USB cable; if any notifications about USB connection popups on your phone, please approve it
  • Open a DOS command window on your Windows PC
  • From here execute adb reboot bootloader to reboot your Moto G
  • After the Moto G has rebooted to bootloader mode, please execute, always from the PC DOS command window, fastboot oem get_unlock_data
  • A strange and long string like this one

  • Rearrange it in a text editor removing the (bootloader) text and writing all the numbers and letters in sequence, in this way 0A40040192024205#4C4D355631323030373731363031303332323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1F532800020000000000000000000000
  • Go now to this Motorola bootloader unlock page where, after logging in with your Motorola account, you can check if your device can be unlocked
  • Paste, in the appropriate field, the rearranged string you prepared in the text editor two steps ago and you will get an email with the bootloader unlock key written in upper case
  • Type now the following command on your PC command window, to unlock your phone: fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY
  • If no errors appears on your phone, your device is now unlocked
  • To flash a TWRP Custom recovery
  • This step, described in details here, allows you to install on your Moto G, the Team Wind TWRP Recovery, needed to flash then the Lineage OS custom ROM
  • Download on your PC the latest TWRP Recovery for your Moto G (3rd gen) from here, and open a command window from the folder where this TWRP Recovery has been downloaded
  • Type this command adb reboot bootloader to reboot your phone in bootloader mode
  • Type then this command fastboot flash recovery twrp-osprey-3.0.2-r5.img to effectively install the TWRP Recovery on your phone
  • Type then fastboot reboot to reboot your phone, once the TWRP recovery has been installed
  • Create a Nandroid backup
  • Before to go on, it is safer to create a Nandroid backup, using the installed TWRP Recovery
  • The Nandroid backup procedure is well described at this link: http://droidvendor.com/how-to-backuprestore-data-via-nandroid-backup-using-twrp-custom-recovery/
  • Eventually, install Lineage OS Custom Rom
  • This is the final step, with the installation of Lineage OS custom Rom on your Moto G (see here for more details)
  • Download, in your PC, Lineage OS 14.1 ROM for Moto G 2015 from here [Pick up the latest build]
  • Download, in your PC, Lineage OS 14.1/Android 7.1.x Google Apps from here, choosing ARM as platform, 7.1 as android, and stock as variant
  • Now transfer both files on your Moto G storage
  • Turn off your device and reboot into TWRP recovery
  • Select \u201cWipe\u201d from TWRP main menu and do a \u201cSwipe to Factory Reset\u201d on the bottom of screen
  • Go back to TWRP main menu, tap on \u201cInstall\u201d and select the Lineage OS ROM .zip file that you transferred to your device two steps ago (lineage-14.1-20170207-nightly-osprey-signed.zip in my case)
  • After selecting the .zip file, do \u201cSwipe to Confirm Flash\u201d on the bottom of screen to begin the custom ROM installation process. This may take some time.
  • Once your ROM is successfully flashed, you\u2019ll see \u201cWipe cache/dalvik\u201d option, select it and then do \u201cSwipe to wipe\u201d on bottom of screen
  • Repeat now the same step, from the TWRP main menu, installing the Google Apps .zip file (open_gapps-arm64-7.1-stock-20170208.zip in my case)
  • Hit the \u201cBack\u201d button on-screen and then select \u201cReboot System\u201d button
  • The Lineage OS boot logo should appear and you will enjoy the new Android 7.1.1 on your Moto G 3rd gen, although Motorola decided to stop the OS update to Android 6.0.1

Till now it seems that everything is working well, with the exception of the flash in the camera app. However other apps (like open camera) are able to drive the flash.

UPDATE: the following bug seems to be present (https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-72?jql=text%20~%20%22osprey%22), with an issue in the transition from Wi-Fi to Cellular Data.

Un vivace sabato pomeriggio

Eccoci tutti in gruppo

Oggi pomeriggio avremmo dovuto avere ospiti Paolo e Marcella, con i loro bimbi, bellissimi e bravissimi, Giacomo e Rebecca. Prima di loro sono però transitati da noi anche Damiano e Rossella, con le loro due super bimbe, Martina, storica compagna di Lorenzo, e Giulia, compagna di nido di Bea e Giacomo. Insomma, sei bimbi scatenati (chi più chi meno) e la piacevole compagnia di cari amici. Risultato: la casa alla fine era un po’ in sofferenza, ma tutti noi siamo stati ben felici di questo bel sabato pomeriggio. Grazie!!!

Today, in the afternoon, we were waiting for Marcella and Paolo, with their lovely Rebecca and Giacomo, but we were lucky enough to have some additional guest: Rossella and Damiano, with their special Martina and Giulia. You can obviously imagine that the afternoon was a bit noisy, and the house, at the end, was a bit messy, but it was a really nice experience…
