Pizza con…

Ieri sera, approfittando della passaggio del buon Gianfranco da Pavia, siamo usciti a mangiare un’ottima pizza alla “Vecchia Pavia”, celebre per la squisita pizza Willy (pancetta, fagioli e cipolle).
Oltre a me e Silvia, c’era anche l’ottimo Ivan (di passaggio, sempre piu’ di frequente per Pavia), Danilo, l’Amigo e l’ingegnere.
La serata, piu’ che piacevole, e’ poi proseguita al Dublino per l’immancabile birra.

Yesterday Gianfranco was back in Pavia and we organized a pizza (he is missing a lot good pizzas in California) together with Danilo, Ivan, the “Amigo” and the “ingegnere”. It was a nice revival, and after the famous pizza Willy (beans, bacon, onions) we went to Dublino pub for a cold beer.
It was a nice evening, and we miss a lot Gianfranco (and Anna too, obviously).

Bici + fiori

Un po’ per il fatto che pedalare e’ bello di per se, un po’ perche’ nel nostro piccolo cerchiamo di ridurre l’inquinamento, un po’ perche’ il prezzo della benzina continua ad aumentare, fatto sta che oggi, per trasportare un bel vaso di ciclamini (ormai sfioriti…) abbiamo sfruttato il capiente “cestino” della mia bici da citta’. Un atteggiamente molto “olandese”. Crediamo che Martjee possa essere orgogliosa di noi.

To ride the bycicle is always nice; moreover this allows to reduce pollution and to save money (gasoline is always more expensive…). So, to bring a pot of cyclamen from our place to Silvia’s mother, we decide to do it by bike. This is a really “dutch” approach. And we think that our friend Martjee could be proud of us.

Gita lungo l’Adda

Anche questo sabato, con un sempre piu’ nutrito gruppo di amici/colleghi, abbiamo organizzato una bella pedalata in mezzo alla natura. Abbiamo percorso le due rive dell’Adda, all’altezza di Pizzighettone, per un totale di circa 44 km. La giornata soleggiata di primavera ha contribuito a rendere entusiasmante questa bella gita. Oltre a Chiara, Antonio, Alessandro, Luisa, Silvia e il sottoscritto (gia’ presenti alla prima uscita lungo il naviglio di Bereguardo) questa volta si e’ unito anche il buon Fernando.

This saturday too, together with a nice group of friends/colleagues, we rode our bike through the nature. The path was mostly through the two side of Adda river, around Pizzighettone. There was a lovely sun, and this made the experience very nice.

Dopo un weekend lungo a pedalare con gli amici del Pedale Maiale, Silvia mi ha accolto ieri sera con un nuovo e delizioso piatto di cucina giapponese.
Potete ammirare come si presentava la tavola al mio rientro. Un trionfo di maki di ottima qualita’ che sia io che Ivan abbiamo piu’ che apprezzato. Penso proprio che anche Emiko non avrebbe avuto nulla da ridire al riguardo.


After a long weekend spent riding my mountain bike through Tuscany together with the friend of Pedale Maiale, yesterday, when I came back home, together with Ivan, we found very good sushi hand made by Silvia. It was a great surprise, and maki were very good. I think that Emiko too should be proud of Silvia’s “japanese” food style.

Bereguardo

Oggi, approfittando della bella giornata di sole, dopo un lauto pranzo, siamo andati a fare un bel giro in bici. Il classico giro di Bereguardo, con sosta al caratteristico ponte di barche. Il percorso e’ interamente immerso nel parco del Ticino ed e’ decisamente suggestivo, e fortunatamente piatto.


Today it was a sunny day here in Pavia; we had a big and very good lunch so, after that, we decided to ride our bicycles through the “Parco del Ticino” in the classic tour from Pavia to Bereguardo (roundtrip). In Bereguardo there is a peculiar bridge, not as famous as the Golden Gate, but it is made of boats and it is quite nice. Here you can see a picture of it.

Primavera

Anche se il tempo qui non è stabile (e bello) come quello californiano, ormai i sacchibelli hanno sancito che è ora di cominciare a mangiare sul terrazzo (forse terrazzo e’ una definizione eccessiva per il nostro balcone, ma tant’e’). E cosi’ ecco apparecchiato il piccolo tavolino Ikea, circondato dai fiori che certo non mancano. Il pranzo e’ stato particolarmente piacevole proprio per il fatto di aver mangiato fuori. Certo, il gelato al fiordilatte e mirtilli ha contribuito a renderlo ancora più piacevole…


Here weather is not so good and stable as in California. However spring time arrived and we are seeing very nice days followed by rainy days, and then again sunny days. It is not so monotone as in California 🙂
Yesterday, being a sunny day, we started the season of the “lunches on the terrace”, so you can see our small Ikea table together with the flowers we have on the terrace.
Because of ths innovation lunch has been very nice. Morevoer, at the end, we prepare a wonderful “fiordilatte” and blueberry ice cream. Look at the picture, and forget about it. It already disappeared in our stomaches….

Torta e fiori

Stamattina, pur essendo domenica, la sveglia e’ suonata due volte, molto presto. Alle 4.35 per accompagnare i miei genitori alla partenza di un viaggio in Grecia, e alle 8.00 per andare a correre la Straticino. Al mio ritorno, dopo 11 km di corsa, ho comprato 3 rose per Silvia, che qui vedete in foto. Non so se per ringraziarmi o meno, ma sta di fatto che lei ha poi preparato un’ottima crostata di pesche. Ancora una volta tanto bella da vedere quanto buona da gustare.

This morning although it was Sunday, the wake-up alarm played twice early in the morning. The first time at 4.35 (I had to bring my parents to the meeting point for a travel to Greece), and the second one at 8.00 (I decided to run the “Straticino”, a run within Pavia (11 km). Coming back I bought 3 roses for Silvia.
She was quite happy and she decided to cook a very good “crostata di pesche”. As you can see in the picture, it looks very nice; but, believe me, it is more good than nice 🙂

Scacchi

Durante il soggiorno di Colin da “Sacchibelli”, abbiamo anche disputato una partita a scacchi. Gli scacchi mi piacciono molto, ma era da parecchio che non giocavo. Colin inoltre era un avversario temibile. Non curante di cio’, gli ho concesso pure i bianchi. E con una straordinaria strategia, dopo un duello tesissimo, secondo voi chi ha vinto? La foto potrebbe dare qualche indicazione.

When Colin was at “sacchibelli” he proposed to play chess with me. I was a little bit scared, because Colin is a good player and I was not playing since longtime. However he was a guest, and I gave him the white pieces. It was a battle. I lost some pieces in some stupid way, but at the end…

Tulipani

Dopo i primi tulipani gialli, anche quelli rossi sono fioriti. E, nonostante il brutto tempo e il vento di questi giorni, siamo riusciti a scattare qualche bella foto.
Dei 10 tulipani piantati da Silvia, 9 sono gia’ fioriti. E stiamo aspettando con ansia il decimo. Dopo 2 gialli e 7 rossi, io ho puntato tutto sul blu. L’ultimo tulipano sara’ blu…

After the two yellow tulips, it was time for the red ones. Weather was not so good, and wind didn’t help them. However we were able to take some nice pictures.
We are still waiting for the last tulip. The one that should be ready next week. And I’m pretty sure it will be a wonderful blue tulip.

Colin

La settimana scorsa abbiamo avuto Colin nostro ospite. Dopo essersi dilettato coi biscotti e con la prima cheescake, ecco che una sera ha deciso di organizzare una vera e propria cena.
Un’ottima zuppa di porri, coppa alla griglia con aglio e spezie, e una straordinaria torta con cioccolato, fragole, cocco e panna.
Forse abbiamo mangiato troppe calorie, ma tutto e’ stato perfetto. Grazie ancora Colin.
Credo che presto, sul suo blog, ci saranno i dettagli della ricetta.


Last week we had Colin as guest at our place. As already posted, it was very nice to have him with us. He prepared for us both a cheesecake and a lot of cookies. But few days before to leave he cooked a complete dinner. We started with a lovely “leeks soop” and then with grilled pork (with broccoli). After that, there was the most crazy cake I ever seen. A chocolate cake, with strawberry, coconut and cream……
