Matteo (di Contafamily) e Zap sono due cari amici conosciuti piu’ di 20 anni fa, sui banchi della Nave (la strana sede della Facolta’ di Ingegneria dell’Universita’ di Pavia). Certo, a pensare che sono passati 20 anni da quando si era matricole alle prese con l’esame di analisi vengono un po’ i brividi. Fatto sta che durante gli studi, spesso svolti in gruppo, si e’ creata una profonda amicizia. Poi ognuno ha percorso le proprie strade, chi in Italia chi all’estero, inevitabilmente ci si e’ frequentati di meno, ma quando capita l’occasione di ritrovarsi, e’ sempre un momento di festa. Cosi’ ieri sera, anche se alla fine ci siamo ritrovati solo con Matteo e Zap e molti altri cari amici non hanno potuto unirsi al gruppo riunito a casa di Zap, e’ stato comunque un momento davvero bello. Grazie di cuore, e alla prossima.
Twenty years ago the male component of sacchielli’s family was a young student at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Pavia. Although it seems not realistic that this happened 20 years ago, it was a nice period where we built solid friendships. It is not easy to meet often those old friends, but yesterday, at Zap’s place, I met again Matteo (from Contafamily) and Zap, and it was a really nice dinner. La torta che vedete qui fotografata e’ una crostata con marmellata di limoni. Per farla ci siamo ispirati alla classica ricetta della frolla delle sorelle Simili, che abbiamo trovato su Pane e roba dolce uno dei loro famosi libri. La ricetta e’ molto semplice
200 g farina 00
100 g burro
80 g zucchero a velo
2 tuorli
un pizzico di sale
e l’utilizzo del robot da cucina la rende quasi banale. Avevamo poi un’ottima marmellata di limone che abbiamo deciso di usare per questa torta. E il risultato e’ riprodotto nella foto. Ah, dimenticavo, una peculiarita’ di questa torta rispetto a tutti i dolci e piatti qui raccontati in questo blog, e’ che e’ stata interamente preparata dalla componente maschile di casa sacchibelli…
The cake you see in the picture is a jam tart prepared by the male component of sacchibelli family. The recipe is inspired by Pane e roba dolce, a book of the famous Simili sisters. We made the shortbread before and then we used a very good jam marmalade on the top of it. The recipe of the shortbread is quite easy
200 g white flour
100 g butter
80 g icing sugar
2 yolks
a little of salt
and we had the help from the Kenwood robot too. Probably this is the only reason why the male component of sacchibelli’s family was able to prepare this cake without any help from Silvia…
Il chinotto e’ una delle bevande analcoliche che preferiamo. E’ il modo alternativo alla coca-cola di bere scuro, e pur essendo un po’ piu’ di nicchia, capita spesso, d’estate, di berlo. Non sapevamo pero’ che nella vicina Savona esistesse proprio una tradizione per questo agrume e per la preparazione della bevanda. Cosi’ quando Luca e Chiara ci hanno regalato una confezione di “vero chinotto” del presidio del chinotto di Savona, siamo rimasti davvero piacevolmente sorpresi. E, bisogna ammetterlo, il sapore e’ davvero speciale.
We love chinotto, a special dark non-alcholic drink, that here in Italy is sometimes preferred to Coca-Cola. Obviously, while Coca-Cola is a very massive drink, chinotto is more a niche product. We knew that is popular mainly among italian persons, but we didn’t know that the “Vero Chinotto” is the one that comes from Savona. So when Luca and Chiara offered us a pack of “Vero chinotto” di Savona, we were surprised at the beginning, and then very happy when we tasted it. It is really good. Thanks a lot Luca and Chiara.
Come piu’ volte testimoniato, in questi mesi ci siamo sentiti davvero circondati da amici cari la cui vicinanza ci da’ davvero tanta forza. Cosi’ anche questa settimana e’ capitato di vivere una vita sociale intensa: lunedi’ siamo stati onorati della presenza di Alice e Filippo (da poco rientrati da Londra e pronti a partire per la Florida… dei veri giramondo), con cui abbiamo trascorso una serata davvero piacevole, mentre ieri sera siamo andati in trasferta a cena da Luca e Chiara, per una serata altrettanto gradevole e speciale. Che dire, grazie davvero di cuore, e’ bello sentirsi circondati dalla vostra amicizia.

As we already mentioned many times, in these months we really appreciated the fact that many friends were very close to us. This helped us to get through this bad period and we really thank all of them. This week too we experienced a very intensive social life, and we liked it. On Monday we invited Alice and Filippo for a dinner at our place. They just came back from London and are now ready to fly to Florida, and together with them we spent, as usual, a lovely evening. Yesterday on the other hand we went at Luca’s and Chiara’s place for a great dinner, and for share with them another lovely evening. Thanks to you for your friendship. We really like it.
Capita di rado che si vada al cinema, un po’ per pigrizia, un po’ perche’ i cinema in centro a Pavia, per sciaguarate scelte, sono in progressiva via d’estinzione. I pochi film che pero’ scegliamo di vedere al cinema sono tipicamente di ottima qualita’: i piu’ recenti sono stati Milk” ( qui raccontato), “Invictus” e “Into the wild“. Cosi’ ieri sera, notando la locandina de “Il discorso del re“, pluricandidato agli Oscar 2011 che si terranno proprio stanotte, abbiamo deciso di andare a vederlo. Che dire, non conosciamo gli altri candidati agli Oscar, ma sicuramente il film e’ ben fatto, interessante e coinvolgente. E il fatto che sia tratto da una storia vera lo rende ancora piu’ speciale. Insomma, i Sacchibelli lo consigliano caldamente, indipendentemente da quello che decidera’ la giuria degli Oscar questa notte….
We rarely go to the movie theater (here in Pavia it starts to be hard to find a movie-theater still open, by the way), but usually, when we decide to go, we choose some very good movie. It happened, in the last years, for “Milk” ( here our impressions), “Invictus” and “Into the wild“. Yesterday we noted that the multiple Oscars candidate “Il discorso del re” was scheduled in one of the last movie theater still open here, and we decided to watch it. We don’t know if it will win all the Oscars it is candidated too, but for sure we liked it a lot, and we suggest to watch it.
Ieri sera siamo stati invitati a cena da Beppe e Ariella; abbiamo avuto cosi’ l’occasione di passare una serata davvero piacevole, non solo per gli ottimi piatti preparati da Ariella, ma per la speciale cortesia ed amicizia che Beppe, Ariella e tutti i loro fantastici figli hanno nei nostri confronti. Tra un racconto e l’altro abbiamo cosi’ gustato una notevolissima torta salata a base di porri e un’originalissima faraona con sugo di verdure accompagnata da riso basmati. Ci siamo ricordati di scattare la tradizionale foto di gruppo solo a cena finita, e con Giovanni e Giulio gia’ a riposare. Ad ogni modo approfittiamo anche del blog per ribadire il nostro grazie per la vostra calorosa accoglienza.
Yesterday we went at Beppe’s and Ariella’s place for a dinner. It was a nice opportunity to spend some time together with true friends, sharing some nice history, discussing about almost everything and eating really good food. In particular the leek pie and the guinea-fowl with vegetables and basmati rice were delicious. We also enjoyed the warm kindness of Stefano, Lucia, Giulio and Giovanni, Beppe’s and Ariella’s sons, but unfortunately we missed both Giulio and Giovanni for the photo… We really apologize with them…
Quest’anno, il 2011, per chi come la componente maschile di casa sacchibelli e’ nato nel 1971, significa che si arriva alla fatidica soglia dei 40 anni. Tappa importante, simbolica e un po’ impegnativa. Diciamo che non mi sarebbe spiaciuto proseguire la fase dei trenta, ma all’anagrafe non si comanda… Per fortuna il compleanno e’ a maggio, ed e’ possibile cosi’ assistere alle prime capitolazioni essendo ancora 39enni. Cosi’ oggi, compleanno del nostro caro amico Teo, siamo (a fatica) riusciti a fargli visita consegnandogli una simbolica torta di buon compleanno… Tanti auguri Teo!!!!
This year (2011) is quite critical for those that, as the male component of sacchibelli’s family, were born in 1971. They turn 40. Personally speaking, I would have preferred to maintain 3 as the first number of my age, but it is not possible to avoid this event… Hopefully I will turn 40 next May, so it is possible to assist to the 40th birthday of some friends still being 39 y.o. Today, for example, we went at Matteo’s place bringing a cake, made by SIlvia, for his 40th birthday. It has not been easy to find him, but at the end we were able to wish happy birthday to our dear friend…
Ieri siamo andati a cena al Biblos Caffe assieme ai nostri amici Ivan e Gabriella. La cucina libanese ci piace parecchio, e il piccolo ristorante che ormai da parecchi anni e’ presente a Pavia e’ decisamente caratteristico. La compagnia di Ivan e Gabry poi ha reso la serata davvero piacevole. E sullo sfondo le news dal Cairo, accolte con trepidazione dai gestori libanesi, con i segnali sempre piu’ evidenti dell’imminente caduta della dittatura di Mumarack, hanno reso ancora piu’ speciale questa serata.
Yesterday we went, together with our friends Ivan and Gabriella, at Biblos Caffe, a Lebanese restaurant in the center of Pavia. We like a lot Lebanese foot, and the restaurant too is really nice. We spent a very pleasant evening, made special by the news and images from Egypt, with the excitation for the ending of a dictatorship, and the special involvement of Lebanese people working at the restaurant.
Ieri sera abbiamo trascorso una bella serata in compagnia di un buon gruppo di ex compagni di liceo della componente maschile dei sacchibelli, e adottati anche dalla componenti femminile. Nonostante qualche assenza dell’ultimo momento, ci siamo ritrovati in 9, e se alcuni capita di incontrarli piuttosto frequentemente altri, come l’ottimo Alberto, era da parecchio che non lo si incontrava
Che dire, gli anni sono trascorsi e dei ragazzini che nell’85 si ritrovarono in quella classe al primo piano, vicino al ponte, del Copernico, e’ rimasto solo il ricordo. Ma come (quasi) quarantenni direi che ci difendiamo ancora piuttosto bene. Grazie a tutti per la piacevolissima serata e, ovviamente, alla prossima, sperando di essere ancora piu’ numerosi.
Yesterday we went out for a pizza togther with some old school mate of the sacchibelli’s male component. Although someone missed the appointement, the group was large enough and we spent, al together, a very nice evening. It often happens that we meet many of them in normal life, but others, like Alberto, was missing since many years. It is strange to remember that 26 years ago we met at “Liceo Copernico”; we just were boys and girls, while now we are (almost) 40 years old, but it is always nice to spend some event togheter, so let’s wait for next meeting, hopefully soon and with a larger partecipation.
Il blog del kiwi e’ uno dei link che trovate qui nel blogroll sulla destra. Enrico (detto il kiwi) e’ un caro amico di Silvia e oggi, con la sua Silvia (deve essere un vizio degli Enrichi sposare le Silvie…) e’ tornato a Pavia ed abbiamo avuto cosi’ l’occasione di conoscere la loro piccola Marta, la bambina piu’ sorridente del mondo. L’occasione e’ stata poi propizia per rivedere anche altri cari amici, come la Fede, Agnese, e Stefano. E alla comitiva si sono poi aggiunti anche gli ottimi Paolo e Luisa. La foto di gruppo lascia un po’ il tempo che trova, ma sicuramente il ricordo di questa giornata speciale e’ ben scolpito…. Grazie davvero di esserci venuti a trovare e dei bei momenti che abbiamo trascorso insieme.

Enrico (who is called kiwi) is a true friend of Silvia and he moved from Pavia after he got married with his Silvia (evidently it is typical for an Enrico to get married with a Silvia…). Today they came back to Pavia during the afternoon, and this was the occasion to meet their lovely baby (Marta), and also some other friends (Fede, Agnese, Stefano). We then met also Paolo and Luisa and all together we spent a really nice afternoon. Thanks for coming Enrico, Silvia and Marta. And obviously we hope to see you soon again.
