Questo weekend e’ stato per me molto speciale. Sono infatti andato a Redding (260 miglia a nord di Santa Clara, non lontano dal confine con l’Oregon) a trovare un caro amico, Jared, e i suoi carissimi genitori, Virginia e Dennis. Eccoli in una foto di gruppo.

E’ stato un weekend speciale, per la particolare amicizia che mi lega a Jared, e per i bellissimi momenti che abbiamo trascorso insieme.
Redding e’ un posto interessante, e la casa di Jared, su una splendida collina circondata da bellissima vegetazione (la via si chiama Whispering Oaks) e’ bellissima, con anche la piscina. Ma e’ la quiete e la tranquillita’ che si respira intorno la sua caratteristica principale.

La casa e’ immersa nella natura, con 4 bellissimi cani e un sacco di gatti. I due Yorkshire spadroneggiano in casa (purtroppo non ho foto), ma fuori ci sono Giorgio e Gelato, due splendidi e giganteschi cani, di una dolcezza infinita. E i gatti non sono riuscito a contarli.

Anche dal punto di vista gastronomico il weekend e’ stato molto interessante, con gli ottimi fish-tacos mangiati sabato e la straordinaria colazione messicana di domenica mattina.

Non poteva mancare il tema delle decorazioni natalizie, e il centro di Redding mi ha colpito perche’ caratterizzato da un’isola pedonale (insolito per gli Stati Uniti) e con straordinari giochi di luci natalizie.

Infine, ci sono state anche emozioni motoristiche. Dennis il papa’ di Jared, possiede un bellissimo chopper, e un’auto d’epoca americana, del 1956. Veramente da brividi.

Sia moto che auto, in perfette condizioni.

Grazie ancora per la bellissima giornata; vi ammiro tanto, siete eccezionali, e il sorriso di Jared e’ impagabile.
Ancora una volta mi sono sentito parte della vostra famiglia, e spero di cuore di vedervi piu’ spesso, anche con Silvia, qui in California, o in Italia (terra che Jared ama tanto).

This weekend I went to Redding, a town 260 miles north of Santa Clara, not that far from Oregon south boundary. I went there to meet my dear friend Jared, and his lovely parents, Virginia and Dennis.
I spent with them beatifull moments, and I have to thank them because they were extraordinarily kind with me.
Their house, within the nature, over a beautiful hill full of “whispering oaks”, is wonderful.
And there are a lot of animals around. Four dogs, two small Yorkshires (the kings of the house) and two big dogs, Giorgio and Gelato. They are beautiful. Moreover there are a lot of cats around. And a lot of birds too.
To spend some time with Jared and his family is always nice. They are a special family and I would like to see them often, together with Silvia, maybe here, or maybe in Italy (country that Jared loves and where he always hopes to come back). With them I had also very good lunch, dinner and breakfast. The breakfast, mexican based, was very impressive and original. And I definitely think that it will be impossible to loose weight before Silvia will come.
The weekend was also exciting because of Christmas lights in down-town Redding, and because of the beautiful chopper Dennis owns. Moreover he has also a lovely old-fashioned american style car, more than 50 years old.
