Oggi era una splendida giornata di inizio autunno qui a Pavia, e ne abbiamo approfittato per una bella passeggiata per le vie della citta’, spingendoci fino al Borgo basso. Da qui si puo’ godere di uno dei panorami piu’ suggestivi della nostra citta’. La foto, benchè scattata col telefonino, credo che renda l’idea.

Today it was a wonderful sunny day here at Pavia, although the fall time is coming. So, we walked through the streets of our city and we went down to the “Borgo basso”, the district of Pavia beyond the Ticino river. We took the picture through the camera of the cell phone, however we think that the landscape is really nice.

Ieri mattina, durante l’ormai tradizonale corsa della domenica mattina, siamo andati, di buon passo, fino a Borgarello, lungo l’Alzaia, approfittando della straordinaria giornata, soleggiata ma ventilata.
Il Naviglio non e’ certo uno dei canali piu’ affascinanti che esistano al mondo, tuttavia, in alcuni punti, fotografando in modo opportuno, anche il Naviglio puo’ apparire interessante.

Yesterday, during our usual Sunday jogging, we went up to BOrgarello, following the “Alzaia”, a road that goes from Pavia to Milano, following the Naviglio, an historic canal.
Usually water is not that clean, however yesterday weather was wonderful and Naviglio too appeared better than usual.

Dopo solo 10 mesi e 24 giorni l’efficientissima amministrazione comunale pavese ha prontamente riaperto il ponticello ciclo-pedonale che passa sul Naviglio all’altezza di viale Campari e viale Necchi.
Dopo che e’ stato chiuso perche’ dichiarato pericolante lo scorso 12 agosto, dopo ripetute richieste di sollecito, dopo mesi di calma piatta, dopo che la passerella era stata finalmente asportata e dopo che una nuova e’ stata collocata nello stesso punto, dopo che per puro miracolo non e’ accaduto alcun serio incidente a pedoni e ciclisti costretti a condividere il ponte stradale, da ieri il ponticello ciclo-pedonale e’ stato riaperto.
Considerando che si tratta di un ponticello lungo poco piu’ di dieci metri e largo poco piu’ di uno, considerando che il suo impatto scenico non e’ proprio quello del Golden Gate, considerando pure tutte le attenuanti, ritengo che sia vergognoso che sia servito cosi’ tanto tempo per riavere il ponticello funzionante….

Yesterday, after about 10 months and 24 days the pedestrian bridge over the “Naviglio”, close to the intersection between “viale Campari” and “viale Necchi” has been open again. If you consider that the access ramp to the bay bridge, at Oackland, has been substituted in 3 days, and if you consider that the local bridge is only 10 m long and 1 m wide, you can deduce how efficient the Pavia public administration is, compared to the one of San Francisco/Auckland….
However now we can safely walk and ride over the small bridge, and we feel a little bit safer than before, when we had to share, with the cars, the road bridge.

Ieri a Pavia e’ stata inaugurata una nuova libreria. Non e’ che vogliamo farne pubblicita’, ma essa ha una caratteristica che la rende molto particolare. Infatti e’, come capita molto spesso negli Stati Uniti, sia libreria, che bar, unendo cosi’ due aspetti molto interessanti e piacevoli.
Si chiama Loft 10 ed e’ in piazza Cavagneria.

Yesterday a new bookstore opened in Pavia. We don’t want to advertise it, but it is very peculiar (for italian style). In the same space, both a bookstore and a bar coexhist, as ususal in USA. It is called Loft 10 and you can find it in Piazza Cavagneria.
