La componente Sacchi di Sacchibelli non e’ molto produttiva in cucina; certo si nota un certo impegno, qualche risotto, qualche sughetto, delle ottime crepes, ma di sicuro si potrebbe fare di piu’.
Così, mentre la componente Belli di Sacchibelli si esibiva nel suo celebre Sushi, la componente Sacchi e’ stata responsabilizzata a “curare” una frittatina (da utilizzare come ripieno). Ovviamente non mi sono solo limitato a “curare” la frittata ma a farla volteggiare nell’aere dimostrando una perfetta padronanza del mezzo meccanico (la padella) e un notevole gioco di polso…

The Sacchi component of Sacchibelli is not so good as a cook. Sometimes he prepares some nice “risotto”, and for sure he is “master of crepes” but he could do more and better. So, while the Belli compomnents was preparing her famous sushi, I was asked to “check” if the “frittata” (to be used as sushi component) was cooking well. To demonstrate my “cooking capabilities” I did more than I was asked and, as you can see in the picture, I’m now also “master in turning frittata on the fly”…

Forse non tutti sanno che la storica casa francese Peugeot, oggi celeberrima per le sue auto (tra l’altro anche noi possediamo una Peugeot 206) iniziò le sue attività commerciali come produttrice di macina caffè, macina pepe e macina sale. In particolare, nel 1842, brevettò un meccanismo rivoluzionario per la macinazione del pepe che le permise di diventare leader incontrastata nel settore. Poi Peugeot entrò anche nel mercato delle biciclette e infine si consacrò come una delle principali case automobilistiche europee.
A tutt’oggi comunque i macina pepe più prestigiosi (caratterizzati da un meccanismo unico, garantito a vita) sono sempre quelli che recano il marchio Peugeot.
Anche Sacchibelli, prima di conoscere l’ottimo Davide, persona speciale e straordinariamente ricca non solo di cultura ma anche di aneddoti ameni, era all’oscuro di tutte queste sorprendenti notizie.
Dopo che Davide ci raccontò tutti questi dettagli sulla storia dei macina pepe, i Sacchibelli hanno più e più volte pensato di dotarci di uno di questi celebri macina pepe.
Vuoi per il prezzo (essendo i migliori costicchiano abbastanza), vuoi per le opportunità, abbiamo sempre rimandato fino a che, ieri, ci siamo decisi. Ed ecco che Sacchibelli ora, dopo l’automobile, possiede anche uno straordinario macina pepe marchiato Peugeot.

Maybe someone doesn’t know that the brand “Peugeot“, now famous mainly because of its car (by the way, Sacchibelli too owns a wonderful Peugeot 206) has its root in the coffee grinders machines, pepper mills and so on.
In particular, in 1842, Armand Peugeot patented a revolutionary way to realize pepper mills, and Peugeot began to dominate that market. Then Peugeot started new businesses, the first one about bicycles and then, in 1889, the first Peugeot car was made.
Nowadays Peugeot still remains the leader in the pepper mills market and after we learned this from our friend Davide (a very nice guy, rich of culture and strange anecdotes) Sacchibelli started to think about to buy one of these “cool” pepper mills. We waited a little bit (mainly because they are quite expensive) but since yesterday Sacchibelli owns a beautiful brand new Peugeot pepper mill.

Dopo un bel po’ di tempo in cui l’insoddisfazione lavorativa ha raggiunto apici indescrivibili ho cambiato gruppo!!!
Da lunedì sono sempre nella stessa azienda, ma faccio cose molto più interessanti e, finalmente, lavoro per davvero e non conto più i secondi che mi separano dalla navetta di ritorno!!!
Speriamo che questa volta sia quella buona…

After a long time and with a lot of disappointment for my working situation I’ve decided and managed to change my working group!!!
Last Monday I’ve begun to do much more interesting things and now I don’t do anymore the countdown of the seconds that part me from the bus to come back home in the evening…
I wish this time I’ve found my place!

Oggi credo sia di sicuro un bel giorno. E la speranza e’ che i prossimi 4 (8?) anni siano meglio di questi ultimi 8. Questo vale per gli Stati Uniti, ma anche per tutti noi.
Mi permetto di “rubare” la foto e il titolo del post a Luca Sofri, perche’ riescono a trasmetterci un profondo ottimismo, di cui abbiamo tanto bisogno.

Seppur con qualche settimana di ritardo rispetto all’avvistamento di panettoni (!?) in localita’ Santa Clara, CA, USA fatta dall’ottimo Marco, anche qui ormai, dopo la breve parentesi dedicata ad Halloween, si colgono sempre più i segnali che evidenziano come il Natale si stia avvicinando. Certo, mancano ancora poco meno di due mesi, ma tant’è. Purtroppo l’aspetto “commerciale” del Natale è preponderante nella nostra società, e davvero si fa fatica a viverlo come una festa intima e religiosa.

Although Marco, at Santa Clara, has already seen (and probably bought) many “panettoni” at Cosco, in Italy too, after Halloween, it’s easy to see many signals about the fact that Christmas time is coming. In reality we still have to wait almost 2 months before Christmas, but the commercial aspect of such a Holy day is by now preponderant in our society. This is a little bit disappointing, but that’s it. However Sacchibelli will wait until December before to eat “panettoni” and “pandori”.

L’elezione del futuro presidente degli Stati Uniti e’ ormai prossima, e un po’ per l’importanza e la rilevanza dell’evento a livello mondiale, un po’ per lo scialbo panorama politico che l’Italia ci offre ormai da parecchi anni, anche Sacchibelli si schiera.
Certo il nostro endorsement per Barack Obama non e’ significativo come quello di Colin Powell, di molti artisti (ultimo James Taylor), di molti giornali, ma ha solo un valore simbolico.
Eppure la figura di Barack Obama, giovane ma carismatico candidato democratico, riesce a suscitare quegli entusiasmi e quelle speranze di cui il mondo ha bisogno. Pur consapevoli che, qualora venisse eletto, la politica americana non potrà cambiare troppo bruscamente, come evidenziato dalla lucida analisi di Christian Rocca, vedere un giovane, per di più di colore, probabile futuro presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America a neanche cinquant’anni dal celebre discorso “I have a dream” di Martin Luther King, è perlomeno un messaggio di speranza e il segnale che la dolorosa questione razziale, negli Stati Uniti, è stata finalmente superata. E anche questa è una lezione che noi italiani faremmo bene a imparare il più in fretta possibile.

The election of next USA president is close; this election is very important not only for USA people, but for everyone around the world; moreover, being the political situation within Italy very sad since many years, Sacchibelli too is watching with interest at american politics. And we decided to endorse Barack Obama. For sure our endorsement is only symbolic and not as important as the one from Colin Powell, or the ones from many artists (last, but not least, James Taylor) and newpapers, however Barack Obama, young but very charismatic democratic candidate, is able to arouse enthusiasm in politics and to give us hope and optimism, two things the world really need in this period.
Although we really know that, if elected, the american politics and situation will not suddenly change, as highlighted by Christian Rocca, to see a young, black candidate to the presidency of United States of America less than 50 years after the famous Martin Luther King speech ‘I have a dream’ is at least a message of hope and the signal that the “race problem”, at least within the USA, has been resolved. And this is again a lesson we should learn as soon as possible here within Italy.

Dopo il primo pranzo e la prima cena alla mensa Marvell, cibi discreti ma tutti orientalieggianti, pensavo che probabilmente sarei dimagrito un po’ durante queste 3 settimane a Singapore.
Stamattina pero’ ho fatto colazione in albergo…
E credo che non dimagriro’ tanto. Nella colazione a buffet so essere fenomenale 🙂

After the first day at Singapore, with lunch and dinner at Marvell’s place, I figured out that probably I will lose some weigth during the weeks here. Food was fine, but although I love chinese food too, it was not as exciting as, for example, the wonderful “risotto” I already miss.
However this morning I had breakfast at the hotel. It is a buffet breakfast, and you can choose among many kind of things. I then realized that I will not lose any weight…

Carcassonne è una bella citta’ del sud della Francia, e ispirandosi alla sua storia medievale, è stato inventato un bel gioco da tavolo.
Lo abbiamo conosciuto da Marco e Anna, e ci è piaciuto. Così Luisa me lo ha regalato per Natale. Anche se non giochiamo spesso, è decisamente divertente e avvincente. E’ un gioco di strategia, in cui, con i seguaci, si va alla conquista di citta’, poderi, strade e monasteri.
E in casa Sacchibelli e’ dura la vita per gli invitati. O vinco io, o vince Silvia… L’ultima a farne le spese e’ stata Luisa.

Carcassonne is a nice city in the south of France, not far from the Spain boundary. There is also a board game, that is inspired to the medieval history of the town. We played the first time at Marco’s and Anna’s place, and last Christmas I found it as a gift from Luisa.
We don’t play too much, but it is very nice and funny. The goal is to gain cities, roads, farm and monastery moving the “seguaci” with a good strategy.
At Sacchibelli place’s it is not easy the life for who is invited to play with us. Usually Silvia or myself are the winners….

Durante il soggiorno di Colin da “Sacchibelli”, abbiamo anche disputato una partita a scacchi. Gli scacchi mi piacciono molto, ma era da parecchio che non giocavo. Colin inoltre era un avversario temibile. Non curante di cio’, gli ho concesso pure i bianchi. E con una straordinaria strategia, dopo un duello tesissimo, secondo voi chi ha vinto? La foto potrebbe dare qualche indicazione.

When Colin was at “sacchibelli” he proposed to play chess with me. I was a little bit scared, because Colin is a good player and I was not playing since longtime. However he was a guest, and I gave him the white pieces. It was a battle. I lost some pieces in some stupid way, but at the end…
