I Sacchibelli hanno ripreso la loro attività “mondana” grazie all’affetto dei vari amici e questo è davvero un toccasana per l’animo sconfortato di questo periodo.
A Silvia pero’ non è permesso riprendere la propria vita perchè la legge italiana le impone, senza possibilità di rinunciare a tale “diritto”, di rispettare i tre mesi di maternità obbligatoria anche se Irene non è qui. Qual è il senso di questa imposizione? Per una persona è meglio occupare la mente su un lavoro, o restare a casa a sentirsi inutile e vuota o ancora andare in giro e vedere pance, passeggini e vestitini per bambini che spuntano da ogni dove? Il dover passare a casa quasi otto dei nove mesi di attesa per via della gravidanza complicata è stato difficile e davvero il telelavoro avrebbe aiutato, ma l’azienda non lo permette. Almeno c’era una speranza, un progetto meraviglioso che si chiamava Irene, ma ora? Ora ci sono solo tanta tristezza, i postumi di un parto complicato, la prospettiva di un’operazione e la consapevolezza che in questo paese il bene della persona è sempre meno importante. E per giunta continua a piovere…

Sacchibelli are back to life thanks to their wonderful friends but Silvia cannot start her real life since the Italian law states that, even if her baby is no more here, a mother (with the kind of work contract Silvia has) must stay at home from work for three months after childbirth and there is no way to change this condition. What’s the meaning of this? For Silvia would be better to go to work instead of staying at home feeling useless and empty. Stay at home for almost eight of the nine months because of the difficult pregnancy was really hard, but the company doesn’t allow home working. At least there was a hope, an extraordinary project called Irene, but now? Now there’s only a lot of sadness, problems related to the difficult childbirth, the prospective of a surgery and the consciousness that in this country right things for people are more and more unimportant. And in addition it’s always raining…
