Ubuntu pizza

Yesterday we spent a nice evening together with our friend Antonio. Probably you are wondering why the title of this post is “Ubuntu pizza”, so let us explain that Antonio was very curious to try linux on his laptop (a Sony Vaio), but he was worried too, so he was hesitating for longtime. But yesterday we convinced him to try, explaining him that linux, in particular in the Ubuntu flavour, is extremely “user friendly” and we would have installed it just in the same time needed to us to eat a good pizza together. And this happened.

The basic installation of Ubuntu 10.10 (code name Maverick Meerkat) was extremely fast (roughly half one hour) and everything was working “out of the box” (yes, the integrated webcam too, the strange keys on the keyboard, the dual screen option and so on). Then, following this guide we optimized a little bit the system (that according to Antonio never was so fast and agile with the previous OS), and this phase too was cool enough: in fact Silvia prepared a great hot-chocolate and we appreciated it a lot. At the end, we were all happy, and Silvia and I are waiting for the nextt step: to definitely remove the remaining Xp partition from Antonio’s laptop.
