California poppy

Ci dobbiamo aspettare Natale coi papaveri?

As probably many of you know, we love California. We spent nice moments over there and we still have a lot of friends around. Jared and his family at Redding, Colin and his family at Berkeley (where we have also Luns and Magnafiume), Marco and Anna (together with little Matteo) at Santa Clara, Ale and Emiko at Stanford (yes we know, Stanford sucks, but Ale and Emiko are true friends to us), then we have Raffaele around L.A. and the huge italian community at Orange County; and we cannot forget the San Diego’s friends Andrea and Rossella (with babies) together with Dany.
So this spring time, when our friend Fernando (the one who does’t love the blogs) gave as gift set of California poppy seeds we were very happy. And following the instructions, few weeks ago we planted them. It was a way to be a little more “californian” than usual.
The problem is that we were expecting to see poppies next spring (according to instructions), but for some strange reason the mild fall season we are experiencing here at Pavia seems to be really congenial to Californian poppies, and the first seedings appeared few days ago. Do you think that we will have californian poppies ready for next Christmas?. Is this usual within California too, or is it a peculiarity of Pavia weather?
