Da quando il PC fisso dei Sacchibelli e’ stato “rottamato” per far posto a Lorenzo, siamo sempre piu’ in una casa Windows free (inteso come sistema operativo, non come finestre). Si dice che con Linux sia impossibile o molto complicato riuscire a fare tutto. Eppure… Ieri sera dovevamo acquisire un video dalla videocamera, via firewire. E’ un’operazione che tipicamente facevamo da Windows, usando softare piu’ o meno sofisticati. Una rapida ricerca su google e il seguente comando:
dvgrab -format dv2 lorenzo
ci ha permesso di acquisire i file avi, direttamente su PC linux. Che dire, fantastico. Qui si puo’ trovare qualche dettaglio in piu’ sul comando dvgrab.
When Lorenzo arrived, we had to create some space for him, and our desktop PC (dual boot Linux/Windows) has been removed. Now sacchibelli’s house is Windows free (OS speaking), even if someone says that using Linux it is not possible to do many things, or, anyway,they are very tricky. One of the few reasons we had a windows PC was the capture of videos through firewire. Yesterday we had to import some avi file from our handycam and we googled to find a way to do it within Linux environment. And we have found that is much easier than expected. We plugged the videocamera through firewire gable and we entered the following command:
dvgrab -format dv2 lorenzoEt voila’….
