Lo Zoo di Singapore e’ una delle maggiori attrazioni locali cosi’, smessi i panni del lavoratore, il sabato mi sono trasformato nel perfetto turista e sono andato allo zoo. Benche’ sia nella parte nord dell’isola, gli ottimi autobus e metro’ locali mi hanno trasportato agevolmente fino all’ingresso. E mi si e’ spalancato un mondo decisamente affascinante. Non sono molto esperto di Zoo (credo di aver visto solo lo zoo safari di Pombia, ma quando ero molto piccolo) ma osservare cosi’ tanti animali immersi nella natura selvaggia e’ stato davvero emozionante. Inutile elencare qui tutti gli animali visti, accontentatevi di alcune delle foto scattate.
Ma la cosa che piu’ mi ha colpito e’ che anche gli animali provenienti da continenti lontani, come l’America Meridionale o l’Africa sembravano a loro agio nel clima di Singapore.
L’unica eccezione era costituita da pinguini e orsi bianchi. Per loro (e anche per me) qui fa un po’ troppo caldo. Ma anche per loro e’ stata adottata la stessa soluzione tipica degli umani: zone con aria condizionata e acqua raffreddata.
L’animale che piu’ mi ha sorpreso e’ il rinoceronte (molto massiccio), e la giraffa (sara’ banale, ma ha il collo veramente lungo). Ma sono soprattutto le scimmie, di ogni genere, a farla da padrone.

Singapore Zoo is one of the most important local touristic attractions so, on Saturday, I went to visit it. I’m not too much zoo fanatic (I have only seen the “zoo-safari” at Pombia, in Italy, when I was a child), but I have to confess that it was very exciting to see so many animals living close each other, in a very strong and powerful natural vegetations.
It was quite crazy to see also penguins and white bears to live at Singapore, but hopefully they, as humans, had some air conditioning facilities. Giraffes were pretty strange, rhinos surprised me because of their big size, elephants were quite nice (but not as big as expected) and I didn’t realize (until yesterday) that a lot of different monkeys exist around the world.
There was also the option for the night-safari, but I was too tired to wait, so, next time, there is still the possibility for a new experience. Let me strongly suggest to visit the zoo to everyone coming to Singapore.
