No, non si tratta del celebre film ma del freddo polare che stiamo sperimentando in questi giorni. Le temperature minime sono piuttosto rigide, ed e’ da qualche giorno che si resta sotto zero per tutta la giornata. In piu’ ha ripreso a nevicare, e questo aumenta ulteriormente la sensazione di freddo (oltre che i disagi alla circolazione). Ecco alcuni scatti che rendono l’idea…

The big chill is a famous movie, but we are not referring to it, but to the cold weather that we are experiencing here in the north of Italy during this days. Maybe it is mainly suggestion, but we feel a very cold sensation, and it happens that temperature stays below zero (Celsius, don’t worry too much) al day long. Now it is snowing too, so you feel cold only watching outside from the window…. So, let’s keep some picture to transmit to you too the cold sensation we are experiencing….
Autunno Inverno 2009

L’autunno ormai si e’ insediato dalle nostre parti; le foglie ingiallite sono state quasi tutte spazzate via dal vento, e pur non raggiungendo le splendide atmosfere e i caldi colori che abbiamo osservato sulla costa est degli States (Boston e dintorni), anche qui si vivono sensazioni particolari. Certo assieme all’autunno arrivano i primi freddi, anticipatori dell’inverno, le nebbie e le pioggie. Come al solito neanche la neve riuscira’ a impedirmi di pedalare, tanto piu’ quest’anno che Silvia mi ha regalato una splendida cuffia e una calda sciarpa di lana, da lei preparate lavorando pazientemente a maglia… Eccole in anteprima in queste foto. E chissa’ che i sacchibelli non facciano tendenza anche con la moda… Sciarpe e cuffie di lana fatte a mano per tutti 🙂
Fall time is arrived, at the end. Still few leaves on the trees, mainly yellow or red. Something similar (but not so spectacular) to the fall season we enjoyed while we were visiting the east coast of the United States (three years ago…) around the Boston area. And fall season comes here with fog, rain and very low temperature, to prepare the winter season. But this winter too I will be able to ride my bicycle. And it will be easier than in the past: in fact Silvia prepared for me a wonderful woolen hat knitted by her, together with a scarf, amazingly warm. Here there is an exclusive preview… And maybe this year Sacchibelli will set a trend also about fashion…
Il clima pavese

Inutile, quest’inverno freddo e nebbioso continua imperterrito. Oggi ha ripreso anche a nevicare, ma e’ soprattutto la nebbia fitta a rendere il morale un po’ basso. La nebbia peraltro c’e’ anche a San Francisco, lo sappiamo, ma la’ e’ diverso perche’ di prima mattina la nebbia se ne va e subentra il magnifico sole della baia. Qui invece resta tutto il giorno, ed e’ proprio fitta fitta.
Il sole e’ una rarita’ in questo periodo. Siamo pero’ riusciti a fotografare una bellissima alba (lungo il naviglio) e un altrettanto bel tramonto sul Ticino… Speriamo che siano i primi sintomi della primavera…
This winter is very cold and foggy here at Pavia. And today it started again to snow. But it is mainly the fog that is causing us some trouble, because here is not like at San Francisco. We start with the fog in the morning, and we have fog until night. So it happens that we don’t see the sun for many days, and this makes us unhappy. Hopefully, sometimes, we are able to have nice weather here too, so we took some picture about a nice sunrise and a wonderful sunset. We hope that this means that spring time is coming soon…
Forse qualcuno può pensare che ci manchi molto il mite clima californiano… Forse qualcuno puo’ pensare che le giornate di sole limpido anche in inverno, il tepore del sole, la brezza proveniente dalla baia, assieme ai riflessi dorati siano nostalgici ricordi. Forse qualcuno può pensare che bardarsi con piumoni, sciarpe, guanti, cuffie, stivali sia un fastidio rispetto all’andare in giro con felpa e infradito…
Ecco, e’ proprio cosi’…..
Maybe someone thinks that we miss a lot californian weather… Maybe someone thinks that the beautiful sunny days also during winter time, the sun always warm, the wind coming from the bay, together with the golden reflections are nostalgic memories. Maybe someone thinks that to wear with heavy coats, scarves, gloves, hats. boots is annoyng compared to go around with sweatshirt and flip flops…

Qui continua a nevicare ininterrottamente da almeno 24 ore… Non siamo lontani dal mezzo metro di neve, e continua a scendere. Qualora avvistiate un pettirosso…

La leggenda del pettirosso

Si narra che quando si vede un pettirosso in cittĂ , allora da li’ a poco comincerĂ a nevicare. Pur non credendo troppo in queste leggende popolari devo ammettere che anche quest’anno il piccolo volatile ci ha azzeccato. Lo abbiamo avvistato due giorni fa che saltellava sul nostro balcone, e stamattina ci siamo svegliati con circa 15cm di neve (e previsioni nevose fino a mercoledi’ sera…).
Che dire, ci gustiamo quest’ultimo giorno di festa avvolti in questo paesaggio magico e immacolato, immaginando l’invidia dei nostri amici californiani sempre immersi in un clima banalmente mite e ripetitivo… E abbiamo colto l’occasione per qualche scatto suggestivo, riuscendo anche a fotografare il pettirosso profeta di questa nevicata…
A popular legend tells that when you see a robin flying within the city, it announces snow. I don’t trust too much on this kind of legends, but two days ago we have seen a robin jiging about and this morning we woke up with at least 6 inches of snow (and forecasts tell that we should have snow until tomorrow night….).
So today, the last day before to start again to work, we enjoy walking around, excited because of the wonderful and impressive scenery we see. Everything is white and, although it is a little bit cold, we believe that our Californian friends are probably annoyed because of the mild weather they are experiencing every day during the year, and they too would like to experience the fun of a day within the snow. A volte, specie d’inverno, qui a Pavia mi viene da ripensare con nostalgia al clima della California. Certo la California ci manca per molti motivi, in primis per gli amici che abbiamo lasciato laggiu’, ma certo anche il clima vuole la sua parte. E mentre pedalavo verso il lavoro immerso in un atmosfera “bianco ghiacchio” ripensavo al Campus di Berkeley, sempre assolato e fiorito, anche d’inverno…; o al magnifico Golden Gate Park di San Francisco, da noi visitato giusto lo scorso inverno…
As probably our readers know, we miss California a lot. Mainly because we have so many friends waiting for us over there, but for sure, weather too play a significant role. So, while this morning I was riding my bicycle to go to work, while everything around me was “white-ice”, I was thinking, a little bit nostalgic, to the Berkeley campus, always full of sun and flowers, and to the San Francisco Golden Gate park we visited last winter…
